TORRINGTON — The Sentry Insurance Foundation made a donation in honor of Torrington Distributors to the United Way of Northwestern Connecticut this past September.
Torrington Distributors is a large commercial sewing manufacturer that produces airplane seat covers but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they have been making Personal Protection Equipment including face masks and protective wear to help prevent the spread of the virus. They donated a large amount of the PPE to law enforcement officers and fire fighters.
Blair Dupont, senior commercial sales executive at Brooks, Todd & McNeil and producer for Torrington Distributors insurance through Sentry, met with some Sentry representatives previously and discussed Torrington Distributors efforts to help prevent the spread of the virus.
Dupont explained that Sentry has a charitable foundation arm that frequently makes donations in the name of one of their clients that show concern for their communities in different ways.
According to Dupont, Sentry thought Torrington Distributors’ efforts were admirable and qualified for one of their donations, which was $5,000.
“Every day, businesses insured by Sentry are adjusting their operations to serve the immediate needs of their communities,” said Kalynn Pempek, executive director for Sentry Insurance and coordinator for this donation.
“Torrington Distributors is one of these businesses, and we are proud to make a donation in their honor,” she said.
