Medicare Supplement Plans
Bombarded by Medicare Information? Don’t Let Medicare Mail Fool You.
If you are turning 65 in a few months, you are being flooded with information (some deceptively official looking) to entice you to call or return a mailer to the sender. By responding you are giving them “permission to call” and call they will – many times! Medicare is very clear about a salesperson other than your current agent contacting you. Unless you give someone else “permission to call” they may not do so or knock on your door. The only Medicare health plan representative you should talk to is a licensed, certified independent agent – not a call center from some unknown location.
An independent licensed and certified agent will put your needs first, not their commission. Based on your needs such as the prescriptions you require and doctors you see they will guide you to the plan or plans that are appropriate. Independent agents are certified to sell all products available to brokers in your area.
They will also explain the differences between Medicare supplement plans and Medicare Advantage plans and the different enrollment periods. They will go over the costs of your prescriptions and the “structure” of all drug plans (will you go into the “donut hole”?).
For individuals entering the Medicare world there is so much to understand – definitions, enrollment periods, possible penalties as well as so many plans from which to choose. Don’t go down this path alone. Our licensed, certified agents are here to help – give us a call or set up a meeting. The Bowen Agency has partnered with Brooks, Todd & McNeil to provide their Medicare health plan services. You only turn 65 once but we’ve been selling Medicare health plans for over 30 years!
